Knights vs. Soldiers
I have seen a couple of questions regarding which is better, a Knight or a Soldier. This post will give some basic information regarding the two jobs.
To begin, both knights and soldiers are holy warriors first and foremost. Depending on which path you want to take, you will want to focus on a certain line of your skill tree.
Knights are the masters of defence. They have incredible amounts of health and can take a beating, hence they are the meat shields of any party, taking initial aggro and keeping it by use of their breakers and other shield skills which increase their threat. This allows the DDs to take down the mob with little or no fear of being attacked. Knights focus on shield skills almost exclusively. A knight without a shield is a waste of the class. Knights, like clerics, smash at their opponents with one handed maces, making them not only damage takers but life takers as well.
Soldiers are the deva version of a damage dealer. Soldiers have high health but their defence is not as great as a knight primarily because a soldier is all about two-handed weapons and dual welding. Damage is the name of the game for a soldier so focusing on the weapons skills is a must of you wish to go this class. Soldiers dish out damage like fry cooks dish out greasy burgers, serving it up with a side of whoop ass . Soldiers are tanks but if a knight is in party with you, definately let the knight gain aggro and then come in for the kill with your monsterous mace, two handed sword, or sleek looking dual weilded swords.
Armor is the same for both jobs. Good strong warrior armor is needed for the close in fighting that these two jobs enjoy. I like Shine Armor personally for that truly Deva glow, but there are any number of armors out there for you to use.
Have fun with the class and ask questions here and in the rappelz forum.
See you in the game.
